So after a few trail runs with a couple of little projects. I am starting to make a small hut :)

Here we have a few pictures of the line in Progress. The main loop (a folded dog bone) is finished and laid. And the main laoding yard and engine shed are nearly done. The line is a quarry railway would be, lumpy, bumby, with tight corners....
Didymus is a Roy wood models Janet chassis. With home built boiler and bodywork. Roy wood is only a stones throw from me and a great help at any time :) http://roywoodmodels.co.uk/
At first it was built with a second hand external gas burner. But the boiler could not generate enough steam, so a central fire tube was fitted and and a poker burner made. This has reduced run time but it does make plenty of steam. The boiler itself is of simple design, with all round house fittings, no water gauge or top up valve, and originally fitted to be manual. Although originally painted black, the loco is now blue. And now is fitted a round rc regulator and deltang RC that fits in a coal wagon behind the loco. It was found this was needed to help the loco handle the tight corners and changing gradients. Otherwise it seemed to tank on the appearance of a steam plane on the straights. The modelling on this loco has been kept fairly simple for the time being due to the line being very under construction at its time of build. This has aloud me to check the lines ability to handle steam locos with out to much fear of derailing Overall the loco now runs well. I am happy with its overall appearance all apart form and over sized gas tank. I am hoping to build a new smaller tank that will fit under the foot plate. Allowing space for a driver figure. And perhaps in the future a water top up valve for the boiler to help with longer steam sessions . So after a long time gone(due to a new baby boy) . I am back into the thick of it. Things have been happening however, slowly but surely
The Motorcycle has been taken of the road pending a rebuild The 16mm line is doing very well Isibutu was sold as a project, due to it being and ambitious first build and did no take the corners on the new line. This funded the construction of a RWM Janet chassis that has been used to make a Quarry Hunslet type steam Loco. Another Janet chassis is also underway with a freelance side tank loco. 2 Battery electric freelance locos have been made. Controlled by the Deltang RC system. (the hunslet also controlled by this) A lot of rolling stock and custom point work has been made, buildings and landscaping under construction. In short i hope to post more on all these projects. And hope my tales can help others :) II have added some photos of various things taken over the last 2 years..... |
